Tobacco Prevention and Control – Compliance Checks

Wicomico County is committed to promoting health and wellness and preventing disease and illness in youth by reducing access to tobacco products through retail sales.  To continue to help reduce youth accessing tobacco products compliance checks are being conducted by local law enforcement agencies, and are done to ensure retailers comply with local, state, and federal laws. These checks reduce the availability of these products to underage individuals.

 

To help continue to reduce underage tobacco sales to youth, the Wicomico County Health Department on behalf of the Behavioral Health Administration is accepting Letters of Interest from law enforcement agencies to partner with the Wicomico County Health Department to conduct underage compliance checks on cigarettes, tobacco, and vapes shops according to state laws designed to reduce youth access to tobacco.

 

Letters of Interest should be sent to the Wicomico County Health Department, Seth T. Hurdle Building, 108 E. Main Street, Room 216, Salisbury, Maryland 21801, to the attention of Hope Balam, Procurement Officer. The deadline for submission is Wednesday, August 12, 2026. at 3:00 p.m. EST. No late submissions will be accepted.

 

The Wicomico County Health Department reserves the right to reject any Letter of Interest or waive any technicality it deems in the best interest of the agency.
