National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
The Wicomico County Health Department recognizes October 24th as “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day” by encouraging people to safely dispose of leftover medications in secure receptacles throughout the county. Proper disposal of medications helps reduce the availability of prescription drugs and the chances of misuse or abuse.
There are nine (9) safe medication disposal sites, and two (2) sites for dropping off personal sharps including some 24-hour locations in Wicomico County.

- Delmar Police (Monday-Sunday 24/7)
- Fruitland Police (Monday-Sunday 24/7)
- Salisbury Police (Monday-Sunday 24/7)
- Maryland State Police Salisbury (Monday-Sunday 24/7)
- Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office (Monday-Sunday 24/7)
- TidalHealth Emergency Department (Monday-Sunday 24/7)
- Apple Discount Drugs (both locations): Monday–Friday 8:00 am – 7:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
- Mt. Hermon Pharmacy (Monday-Friday 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm)
- Shayona Pharmacy (Monday-Friday 9:00 am – 7:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am – 3 pm)
Personal information should be removed from the original medication container prior to dropping it off. Prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, liquids (sealed tight) and pet medications are accepted.
Now excepting needles at MSP in the red kiosk (needles only)! No thermometers, or biohazard materials, sunscreen or DEET products are allowed. Individuals seeking to dispose of sharps/needles may visit:

- Harm Reduction Center 803 N. Salisbury Blvd. Suite 2300 Salisbury MD 21801 will take them in a hard plastic container that is closed/secured tightly from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
