Medical Assistance Transportation
The Wicomico County Health Department oversees the Maryland Medical Assistance Transportation Program to provide complimentary, non-emergency transportation to qualified Medical Assistance Recipients.
Medical Assistance Transportation is for Wicomico County residents with active Medicaid who have no other means of transportation available to get to their medical appointments. This is a shared ride program – if you qualify for the service, you will be riding with other people. Be aware that all customers will be subject to a screening process to determine eligibility for services. Call (667) 977-1050 with any questions and to see if you qualify.
Scheduling Your Ride
All service must be requested by 12 noon at least two business days before the ride is needed, but can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance. Emergency transportation services are not covered under this program. If you have an emergency, call 911.
When calling to schedule your ride, you must have the following information available:
- The medical facility name, address, and phone number to which you are going.
- How long your visit/procedure is expected to take.
- Any assistive devices you may have: wheelchair, crutches, walker, oxygen tank.
- Whether it is medically necessary for you to be accompanied by an adult.
Ride Restrictions
All dialysis, radiation, chemotherapy, physical therapy, substance use disorder counseling or other recurring transportation services will continue to be provided as scheduled.
